During one of LeapForward's Fix-it-Friday's, where we take one friday to work on internal projects, we came up with an idea for a holographic portfolio.
We had a Microsoft Hololens lying around the office, but hadn't really done anything with it. This frustrated us, and so we tried to come up with a few simple ideas Augmented Reality ideas that we could accomplish on our own. From this we came up with the idea to have a location-aware application that could show clients around the various companies in our offices. Along with this we also wanted to make something cool & holographic that could represent each of the four different companies.
With that in as my briefing I set to work with applying my VR experience with Unity3D within a new context. The result can be seen below, as captured by the headset itself:
A few months later, as a separate experiment I ported this experience over to Apple's ARKit, which had just come out. Here's some on-device footage of how that turned out:
I ended up writing two articles on the company blog about both of these experiments, so check them out at your leisure.
